Has my phone been off the hook for 22 years?

This afternoon I went and picked a phone up, as just moved into a house a week ago, and put in to have the phone connected last week. Was told it would be on on Monday. But when got the phone home and plugged in was no dial tone.  So down the road and gave them a ring to find out.  When got through to faults the man said it was testing off the hook.  Don’t know why it should test that way, thats also what I had said to me in 1986, and the phone was never left off the hook.  A new connection, just got the phone today.  Don’t even know the number myself without looking for it, why should it be testing off the hook?  The other funny thing was when I rang telstra the other day to speak to them the lady when I gave her my name said thats not the name next to the number. Rather strange, wonder what name was next to it.  Only me here.  My cyberstalking little freak is having a ball with the save and publish button here.  Lacking attention? The other day when went to post it got held down, and then got subliminal? message ” See how long I can hold it down for, you think your so smart” Guess what, it got held down for about a minute.  Glad I don’t have to test my intelligence that way. I’d be a bit worried.

Well will be interesting to see how the phone goes tomorrow.  The technician is supposed to be coming to check the line.
